About

Profile Schalk Software Consultacy is founded in February 2020. Since the start of the company I have been able to work on different projects gaining experience with exchanging environments, nationally and internationally. My main interests lie in graphics, game programming and working with new technology. Getting everything in real-time is something I strive for.

Hypixel Studios

Worked on their proprietary engine, that was build up from scratch, within the rendering team. The proprietary engine was created for a multiplatform voxel game Hytale, which sadly got canceled.

11/2024 - 09/2025

The Forge Interactive

At the Forge I was responsible for maintaining and improving the multiplatform rendering framework. Worked on multiple client projects, which required integrating of the rendering framework, porting to different platforms or support with render engineering.

01/2020 - 07/2024

Hades

The winner of the Game Awards 2020 as Best Indie Game. I supported the Supergiant engine team with graphics engineering, optimizations and general bugs.

06/2020 - 09/2020

Master Thesis: Raytracing

Combining Reprojection and Adaptive Sampling for Real-Time Path Tracing on the GPU. This thesis shows how a path tracing algorithm can be improved by reusing previous samples and distribute rays on places in the scene that need more attention.

05/2017 - 02/2018

Small Project: Realtime Raytracing

A Project for Utrecht University, which is inspired on the game Minecraft. The project takes the concept of Minecraft, but applies realistic rendering using the path tracing algorithm and has advanced terrain generation.

09/2016 - 11/2016

Bachelor Software Project

The bachelor project for graduation. In this project a game was created from streamed three-dimentional data derived from real world images.
